I can literally access the WebUI of my Router, in order to "wake up" devices on my network remotely. To wake up the NAS when it is in sleep mode or powered down, press the NAS power button or use the WOL feature in Qfinder Pro or Qmanager. QNAP’s QuRouter OS simplifies managing high-speed and high-coverage LAN/WAN. Simply create a calendar task for your computer or group (1), set a start time and select wake-up (2). (I use DD-WRT on all of my Routers, (regardless of manufacturer)). Some 3rd-Party Router Firmware such as Tomato or DD-WRT support a WebInterface to aid in this regard. If you send a WOL packet to the specific IP address of the target machine AND the router knows which MAC address to send this IP address to, the machine should wake up. See the Links at the bottom of this Wikipedia article for more information. There are plenty of free WOL clients available for many platforms, including both Windows and MacOS. Over-the-Internet Wake-in-LAN is a little tricky to setup, as you typically need to know the "broadcast address" of the recipient LAN, in order to ensure that the "magic packet" actually reaches the correct device. Getting it working, involves setting up Port-Forwarding on your Router, so that the WOL "magic packet" can be directed "through" your Router to your NAS. It is already possible to support WOL over the Internet.
